Government Crypto Moves: Germany and US

The German and U.S. governments are making waves in the crypto market with significant Bitcoin and Ethereum transfers.

  • German government moves 1,500 BTC worth $95 million to exchanges
  • U.S. government transfers 3,375 ETH valued at $11.75 million

German Government Transfers

Recent data from Arkham Intelligence shows that the German government has been actively transferring BTC to major exchanges like Bitstamp, Coinbase, and Kraken. They currently hold 44,692 BTC, equivalent to $2.82 billion.

In their latest transactions, 400 BTC went to major exchanges, with 750 BTC moved on June 26, split between Bitstamp and Kraken.

U.S. Government Transfers

The U.S. government recently moved seized funds from Estonian crypto entrepreneurs into ETH. Previously, they had shifted 11.84 BTC and have now transferred $11.75 million in ETH to a new address.

Analysis and Implications

These strategic moves by both governments indicate a calculated approach to managing their crypto holdings. Germany may be looking to liquidate assets on exchanges, while the U.S. government’s shift to an unknown wallet signals a change in ETH fund management.

The introduction of the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) by the European Union could have a significant impact on these transfers, affecting stablecoins and crypto services.
