Donald Trump Considering Jamie Dimon for US Treasury Position

Donald Trump, former United States president and current Republican ticket nominee, mentioned in a recent interview his consideration of Jamie Dimon, CEO of JP Morgan, for the cabinet position of Secretary of the Treasury. Trump also expressed his intention to retain Jerome Powell as the Federal Reserve chair.

Dimon’s Potential Role

  • This is the first public connection between Dimon and a possible role in the Trump administration.
  • Trump has previously referred to Dimon as a “highly overrated globalist” in a post on Truth Social.
  • Despite their past differences, Trump stated that he respects Dimon and would contemplate him for the Treasury position.

Dimon’s Stance on Crypto

Dimon has been critical of cryptocurrency, stating in a 2023 congressional hearing that he sees it primarily used for illegal activities such as money laundering and tax evasion. Despite his negative stance, JP Morgan has launched its own blockchain token, JPM Coin.

Trump has also expressed skepticism towards Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies in the past, stating they are not “money” and are based on volatile value. However, he is scheduled to speak at the Bitcoin Conference in Nashville from July 25 to 27, indicating a potential shift in his views.
