Current listings for the orange Bitcoin-themed high-tops on eBay show scalpers aiming to profit by selling their pre-order positions for as high as $2,500.

As of now, there are 12 active listings on eBay for the ‘Bitcoin orange’ sneakers, with prices beginning at $700 in live auctions but extending up to $2,500 under “or best offer” terms. One listing humorously priced the shoes at $69,999.

Listing on eBay for Trump's sneakers

Trump’s Bitcoin sneakers are being listed on eBay for $2,500.

However, it remains uncertain whether the sellers will fulfill their claims or if the listings are genuine.

Most listings assure buyers that the sneakers will ship once available, expected between September and November, and while many sellers have strong ratings, a few have been flagged as potential scams in customer feedback.

The Bitcoin-themed footwear was made available for pre-order on the official Trump Sneakers website on July 31, with a limited run of 1,000 pairs. Remarkably, these sneakers sold out within just three hours.

The site also noted that five pairs of these limited edition shoes would be randomly signed by Trump, giving sneaker collectors a 1 in 200 chance of acquiring an autographed version.

Additionally, two other variations of the sneakers—orange low-tops and black hi-tops—are still listed as available on the Trump Sneakers site despite the limited inventory. Both are available for pre-order at $299, with a limited number also set to be signed.

Aside from the cryptocurrency-themed shoes, the Trump campaign is promoting an array of other branded merchandise including perfume, a “Freedom” cooler priced at $299, and various shoes adorned with catchy phrases and American flag designs.

A diverse collection of Trump-themed merchandise is available for purchase.

This foray into crypto-branded merchandise follows Trump’s recent endorsement of cryptocurrency, marking a significant shift from his previous stance earlier this year. His campaign has now adopted pro-crypto policies as a key element of his re-election efforts.

Release Timing After Recent Speech

The launch of these sneakers comes shortly after Trump’s speech at the Bitcoin 2024 conference held in Nashville on July 25, where he announced plans to establish a “strategic national Bitcoin stockpile.” He stated that if he regains the presidency, the U.S. government would refrain from selling any of the $12 billion worth of Bitcoin currently held in reserves.

Trump’s opinions on Bitcoin have transformed over the years. In 2021, he had referred to Bitcoin as “like a scam”, expressing disinterest in cryptocurrencies at the time and suggesting they lacked value compared to the U.S. dollar.

However, in early 2023, Trump began advocating for Bitcoin and other digital currencies. He criticized President Joe Biden’s administration for its unfavorable stance towards cryptocurrency while asserting that the U.S. must not settle for a lesser position in the crypto industry.

On June 16, Trump reaffirmed his commitment to reversing Biden’s “war on crypto” if he were successful in the upcoming elections.
