Mastercard has unveiled the Mastercard Crypto Credential, a new feature to facilitate peer-to-peer transactions on blockchain networks with added simplicity and security. The feature utilizes easy-to-remember aliases instead of complex blockchain addresses, making it easier to send and receive cryptocurrency. This initiative aims to promote wider adoption of digital assets. The service also expands Mastercard’s presence in the digital asset ecosystem, with new partnerships being formed to broaden its reach and capabilities. According to Walter Pimenta, the Executive Vice President of Mastercard for Latin America and the Caribbean, the company is committed to providing trusted interactions and streamlining cross-border transactions in response to the growing interest in blockchain and digital assets. Additionally, the Mastercard Crypto Credential simplifies the verification process for users and supports the exchange of Travel Rule information to ensure transparency and prevent illegal activities.
