Bitstamp Initiates Mt. Gox Creditor Repayments

The announcement of creditor repayments has been made by Bitstamp, following the completion of the necessary security controls.

• Bitstamp has started repaying Mt. Gox creditors
• Recipients are expected to regain control of their assets within a week
• Approximately $9.4 billion worth of Bitcoin is owed to around 127,000 Mt. Gox creditors

Bitstamp’s announcement is a positive sign for Mt. Gox creditors, however:

• UK creditors may have to wait a few more months to receive their assets
• UK customers will be notified about the distribution in the coming months

Other exchanges, such as Kraken, have already completed repayments to Mt. Gox creditors, illustrating progress in the creditor repayment process.
