US Government’s Bitcoin Sale Considered Minor as Market Analysts Point to Bearish Trends

Analysts believe that government sales of Bitcoin are largely inconsequential, yet bearish sentiment continues to exert downward pressure on the market.

Market Reaction to Government Sales

According to data from TradingView, Bitcoin experienced a downtrend, hitting a multi-day low of $57,816. The latest sale by the U.S. government involved transferring 10,000 BTC (approximately $581 million) to Coinbase, as reported by crypto intelligence firm Arkham.

This transaction overshadowed any optimism stemming from recent positive macroeconomic indicators, such as a favorable Consumer Price Index (CPI) report.

Analytics from the platform Lookonchain indicated that similar governmental transactions have historically led to bearish market responses. They observed that the U.S. government transferred approximately 15,940 BTC ($966.4 million) to Coinbase this year in three separate transactions, with Bitcoin price dropping around 5% shortly after each event.

“The U.S. government transferring 10,000 BTC doesn’t change the market fundamentally, yet it triggers significant reactions,” stated Axel Adler from CryptoQuant.

Nations Ditching Bitcoin May Regret Decisions

Recent trends show that several countries, including Germany, have opted to liquidate their Bitcoin holdings. The German government sold its entire BTC stash, now holding just a negligible amount. Before these sales, their holdings were worth about $3.5 billion.

Not long after the final liquidation, Germany reportedly lost out on $124 million in potential profits. Social media personalities have highlighted this as a critical misstep for the nation.
